Keisha Burnett, DVM, CVA

Dr. LeKeisha Burnett graduated summa cum laude with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 from Tuskegee University. Dr. Burnett is from Kendleton, TX just outside of Wharton. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian at an elementary age, but it was solidified at 18 years old after she lost a childhood pet to heartworm disease because her family did not know about prevention. This motivated her to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Vet) from Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU).

Throughout her career, Dr. Burnett has worked with equine, livestock, and companion animals. She also served as faculty at Houston’s Vet Tech Institute, where she mentored students and taught vital courses like small animal surgery, anesthesia, food animal clinical management, and canine/feline clinical management. She loves being a general practitioner, where she educates her clients about preventable diseases in hopes of helping them avoid the loss she experienced in her youth. Dr. Burnett’s interests include internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. She obtained her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in 2023.

She now resides in Crosby, TX with her husband, Jacorey, who she met on the campus of PVAMU. They have 2 beautiful daughters, Cori and Melisa. As a family, they enjoy tending to their five-quarter horses (Six, Pearl, Early, Sweet Jones, and Coco), trying new food trucks, and singing Disney songs.
